Begin to go through all of your possessions. Figure out what your want to keep, sell or donate.

If you are not familiar with the area you are moving to, subscribe to the local paper in your new community to familiarize with it. You can also contact the local chamber of commerce or visitor's bureaus in your new community for information.

Reserve a moving company and storage unit if needed.

Notify doctors of your move and ask them for referrals, also talk to them about transferring prescriptions.

4 Weeks Before:

Make copies of important documents: school records, insurance, driver's registration, etc.

Throw away/remove anything you did not sell and are not taking with you.

Inform friends, employer, banks, insurance companies, credit card companies and any other businesses you deal with about your change of address.

Before leaving, check each room and closet. Make sure windows are closed. Lock all doors.
